Summer Camp
Our summer camp staff is comprised of strong leaders, caring, and skilled, quality professionals hand selected for their professionalism, love of children, and commitment to creating the best summer camp experience for your children. Our directors and head counselors are retired and current New York State certified teachers or New York City Department of Education employees. They are all long-time members of the Magic Summer Day Camp family. They are trained and certified in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Responding to Emergencies (RTE). At least one head counselor, trained in EpiPen administration is always available on trips and at our summer camp home base in Bayside, Queens. Altogether, our summer camp operations team, our summer camp directors and summer camp head counselors all have backgrounds in education, guidance, childcare as well as over 100 years combined in real-world hands-on experience in the care and education of children and adolescents of all ages, cultures, and abilities.

Camp
At Magic Summer Day Camp, every day is magical. Our summer camp day typically starts with optional swimming at our heated, private, outdoor pool located in Queens. We understand that some children may fear the water, which is why at Magic Summer Day Camp our Swim Program stresses safety, fun, and most importantly, supervision by certified staff. After swimming, children enjoy lunch which includes a balanced delicious meal with accommodations for all children. Lunch is included in the cost of summer camp tuition. After lunch, our summer campers at Magic Summer Day Camp attend fantastic and fun trips. Every trip is age appropriate and will provide your child with a magical summer camp experience. Some of our trips include; Adventure Land, Laser Bounce, Bowling, Mini-Golf, The Movies, Roller Skating, One World Trade Center, Trampoline Park, Museums, Parks, Children’s Museums, White Post Farms, etc. Throughout the day, children have the option to play in the park, receive tennis lessons or learn dances from our professional Broadway instructor. At Magic Summer Day Camp every day is truly magical with fun and safety being our top priority.

LOCATION
Magic Summer Day Camp’s summer camp home base is conveniently located in Bayside, Queens. We are delighted to occupy the facility we call our home base each summer.
Our home base allows us to meet the summer camp needs of our campers and their families. Our summer camp programs are thoughtfully curated by our dedicated team of summer camp directors and are sure to exceed your family’s expectations. Immaculately clean, safe and air conditioned, our in indoor and outdoor facilities allows all of our activities to take place when we are not on trips.
The facility boasts a full auditorium for all of our theatre and showcase needs, as well as some of our open houses. It also has an official well-lit indoor gym and outdoor playground. The facility is fully equipped with fire sprinklers, jungle gyms, tennis courts, basketball courts, softball courts, and a picnic area for our outdoor lunches that the campers look forward to, and so do we. All of these areas are supervised by trained adult counselors.
TRANSPORTATION
For those who rely on it, transportation service is one of the most important components of your child’s summer camp experience. It is why the cost of transportation is included in our summer camp tuition.
We know that our bus company partner is a direct reflection of Magic Summer Day Camp and because of this, we partner with only the most highly rated bus companies in our region.
Our bus drivers are the first people you and your child will see from our camp each morning. Further, a counselor from Magic Summer Day Camp is always on the bus when your child is being picked up and dropped off.
Our bus drivers are full-time school bus drivers, who transport children throughout the school year. Over the summer, our bus drivers get to know and love your children and your family. Our summer camp bus drivers are known for their friendliness and relentless attention to safety. They are respectful, courteous and professional, and will pick up and drop off your child on time and on schedule. Our summer camp bus drivers will never ever leave a child unattended at any time.
All of our summer camp bus drivers have children of their own and understand the important role they play in this part of your child’s summer camp day. They often play the latest pop tunes for the campers to sing along while riding to another magical summer day camp adventure.
Plus, all of our buses are air conditioned. And, parents are able to safely and securely track the location of their children’s buses during summer camp pick up and drop off times via a safe and reliable app on their phones.
SWIMMING
The swim portion of our summer day camp is led by our Aquatic Director. Our campers enjoy swimming in a state of the art, private, heated pool. In addition to life guards, every counselor from Magic Summer Day Camp is on duty in and around the pool to ensure the safety of pool activities.
On their first day at the pool during summer camp, every child, regardless of swimming ability, undergoes a swimming evaluation by a qualified and experienced Aquatic Director who is certified in CPR as well as Lifeguard Supervision and Management. This test to ensures the safety of your child while at the summer camp swimming pool.
Based on the results of the swim test, campers are assigned specific areas of the pool with depths consistent with their abilities. If a camper’s swim skills improve over the summer, we can re-test them so that they can graduate to a more advanced depth in the pool.
While at the pool, we intently follow “the buddy system” which means that each child is assigned a “buddy” that will be in the water and pool area with them at all times. No one is permitted in the water without their buddy. In addition to the lifeguards and trained aquatics staff, counselors and Head Counselors are in the water as well.
Some parents as well as children are frightened by aquatics and we do our best to address and gradually ease these fears through encouragement and constant supervision. The swimming portion of our program is generally the first thing we do each day. We have found that the anticipation and concentration of a child in terms of swimming is much sharper in the morning than in the afternoon.
Our instructors and staff are gentle in their approach with uneasy swimmers and conscientious while guiding advanced swimmers. Swimming skills are enhanced with practice and children develop their skills at different levels. While we cannot guarantee that all children will be professional swimmers by the end of their summer camp stay, we definitely can ensure that we will do everything we can to get closer to this enormous and exciting goal.
