Magic Day Camp is looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and dedicated individuals to join our summer team in Bayside, Queens. We are committed to providing children with a safe, exciting, and memorable summer filled with activities, friendships, and new experiences.

Camp Counselor

Position: Summer Camp Counselor
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, depending on camp needs
Location: Bayside, Queens
Employment Type: Seasonal / Summer


Position Overview

Magic Day Camp is seeking energetic, caring, and responsible Camp Counselors to supervise and engage children ages 4–16. Counselors play an important role in making sure every camper feels included, safe, supported, and excited to participate.

We are looking for team players who enjoy working with children and creating fun, positive summer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and actively engage campers throughout the day.

  • Lead and participate in sports, games, arts and crafts, and group activities.

  • Encourage teamwork, friendship, creativity, and good sportsmanship.

  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and safe environment.

  • Assist with camper attendance, transitions, and daily routines.

  • Follow camp schedules and instructions from the Camp Director and supervisors.

  • Support campers during meals, trips, swimming activities, and special events.

  • Communicate any behavioral, medical, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Help maintain clean and organized activity areas.

  • Serve as a positive role model for all campers.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old for a New York State day-camp counselor position.

  • Experience working with children is preferred.

  • Previous camp, coaching, tutoring, babysitting, or youth-program experience is a plus.

  • Positive attitude, patience, dependability, and strong communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred; required certifications depend on assigned duties and camp regulations.

  • Must successfully complete required background checks and screening.

Ideal Candidate: Someone who loves working with children, brings positive energy, enjoys sports and activities, and wants to make a difference in a child’s summer.
